CREATING UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCES

The Valley of 1000 Hills, also known as “The Gateway to KZN” is a Travelers’ oasis.
Conveniently situated only 35 km west of Durban on the N3 or M13,  halfway between Pietermaritzburg and Durban.  With untapped natural surroundings rich in flora, fauna, art and culture, and a variety of adventure activities away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, yet close enough to visit Durban’s beaches and tourist attractions.

The Valley of 1000 Hills has the third healthiest climate in the world and is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise, with nature sanctuaries teeming with bird life, game reserves, gorges, hiking and mountain bike trails.  Leisurely strolls, game drives, dams, waterfalls, a crocodile and snake park, bird park and horse riding.

We have plenty to offer the adventure sports enthusiast as the area is alive with activities and ecotourism sport.  From micro light flights over the valley, skydiving, paragliding, abseiling, canoeing, cycling, hiking to quad biking and rock climbing,  paintball and zorbing.

For the less active, the hills are awash with artists and crafters selling their paintings, woodcraft, weaving, pottery, curios and candles.  In some cases, you can watch the artists at work.  Home to the Shongweni Market where you will find a variety of home and organic produce.

For the Children there are petting zoos, pony and donkey cart rides, child friendly restaurants with play areas and one of the best BMX tracks.

Experience the true culture of AmaZulu, or “People of Heaven”, and dance to the beat of the drum with Zulu dancing and cultural tours. Tour into the Valley and see a true community at work or ride on the wonderfully historic Umgeni Steam train enjoying the peaks and valleys that make up the 1000 Hills and give the area its peace, harmony and tranquility.

Our area offers more than eleven wedding venues from Mediaeval to five star luxury.  Look to our area for a wedding to remember and fill your album with spectacular pictures.
